North Jersey Man Dies In Utah Skiing Crash: Authorities

Frank Maddaloni was on an advanced trail and not wearing a helmet, police said.

A North Jersey man died Monday after police say he crashed into a tree while skiing at a Utah resort.

At 11:39 a.m. deputies from the Weber County Sheriff’s Department responded to a medical call at Snow Basin Ski Resort and found Frank Maddaloni, 56, of Califon, unresponsive, police said.

Maddaloni was at the resort with a group of eight friends but was skiing alone when he crashed into a tree, and was not wearing a helmet, police said.

He was discovered by a friend who alerted ski patrol and medical teams.

Maddaloni was flown to Ogden Regional Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.

Maddaloni was skiing on Janis’ trail, an advanced trail, according to standard.net. The sheriff’s office said the incident is still under investigation.

According to Maddaloni’s Facebook page, the Califon resident was an avid skiier who frequented Vermont’s Killington Mountain over the past year.
