Parents' Feedback Sought For Long Valley Student Programming
School officials are seeking feedback from parents for the district's "Parent University" workshops.
LONG VALLEY, NJ — Washington Township School District officials are seeking feedback from parents in an effort to collaborate on student programming.
The district’s new initiative, “Parent University,” entails a series of workshops in which parents, teachers, and other staff members come together to discuss ideas for fresh and innovative programs for students.
“These workshops are designed to provide valuable resources, foster meaningful connections, and address the evolving needs of our families,” a school statement read. “We are committed to creating opportunities for engagement that are relevant and beneficial to Long Valley.”

The school district recently sent out a survey, asking parents to submit ideas for future Parent University discussion topics.
“As we plan future sessions, your input is invaluable,” officials said. “We want to ensure that our workshops reflect the topics and concerns that matter most to our community.”

The third Parent University session will be on Nov. 24 at 6 p.m. in the Benedict A. Cucinella School Library. The session, “Data and Donuts,” will be led by Director of Curriculum and Instruction Deborah Russo and will focus on “how to understand and use your child’s academic data to support their success.”
The program, which parents and guardians of students in grades K–8 are invited to attend, will explore the following:
- MAP Growth Reports – what the scores mean and how progress is measured
- District Benchmark Assessments – how they guide classroom instruction
- NJSLA Results – understanding state testing data and growth indicators
“This interactive session will help you make sense of the numbers behind your child’s learning and discover ways to partner with teachers for continued growth,” a statement read. “Come for the data - stay for the donuts!”
