A Long Valley Man Conned Her Out Of Thousands, Cops Say (patch.com) — Long Valley residents are learning that a 55-year-old local man was arrested in town and extradited to Michigan, where he’s accused of scamming a 72-year-old woman out of tens of thousands of dollars in a fake sweepstakes scheme. Police say he allegedly convinced her she’d won $5.5 million and needed to mail in money for taxes, prompting a reminder that legitimate prizes never require upfront payments.
