Police Fundraiser Supports Officer With Still's Disease In Long Valley

The Washington Township Police Department will host a "No Shave November" fundraiser to benefit a fellow officer.

LONG VALLEY, NJ β€” Members of the Washington Township Police Department might get a little hairier this November for a good cause.

The Washington Township Police Department will kick off a No-Shave November fundraising campaign. This year, they're helping a Morris County police officer who was recently diagnosed with Adult-Onset Still Disease (AOSD).

The officer's name is being withheld from the public in order to protect the officer's family's privacy, according to the police.

According to a GoFundMe started in the officer's honor, the treatment of this disease resulted in them developing secondary HLH, Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis, which is a rare but potentially fatal condition.

"When someone is living with these diagnoses, the smallest daily task is a battle and therefore has kept them from being able to perform their work duties. These circumstances create financial hardships on families and we are proud to be able to help when we can," the police department said.
