Police Log: Marijuana Among Recent Complaints In Washington Township

Washington Township Police find marijuana on two drivers over Labor Day weekend.

Washington Police patrol officers found marijuana on two drivers during routine vehicle stops over the weekend:

Sept. 2

At about 3 AM, a patrol officer stopped a grey sedan going west on Route 46 for failing to keep right while driving. The officer smelled marijuana coming from the car while speaking to the driver. Upon further investigation, the officer discovered that the driver had marijuana, along with drug paraphernalia. The driver was arrested and issued a Criminal Complaint for Possession of Marijuana (under 50 grams) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and tickets for Failure to Keep Right, and Possession of CDS in a motor vehicle.

Sept. 4

At just about 1 AM, a patrol officer stopped a car on Route 46 for speeding with unclear plates. The officer found, upon investigation, that the driver seemed to be driving under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance and that the the backseat passenger was attempting to hide a Marijuana cigarette. During the course of the investigation, the officer found additional Marijuana. Both individuals were placed under arrest and transported to Washington Township Police Headquarters. The driver was issued motor vehicle complaints--DWI, Open Container in a vehicle, Speeding along with Unclear Plates--and later released to a responsible adult with a pending court date in Washington Township Municipal Court. The backseat passenger was issued a Criminal Complaint for Possession of Marijuana (under 50 grams) and later released also with a pending court date in Washington Township Municipal Court.
