“Businesses on either side of the closure will be open as usual,” the Office of Emergency Management stated.
Washington Township Mayor Matt Murello shared more about the closure on Tuesday, saying that the shutdown was due to a crane being used both days “to make repairs to the LaTourette Mill.”

In 2021, Obadiah LaTourette Grist and Saw Mill, which is located at 12 East Mill Road, received grant funding from the County of Morris’ Preservation Trust Fund, that included $144,000 for construction documents and $23,616 for construction. Built around 1750, those grant monies were being used to help strengthen the building with Tyvek and cloth coverings and to install aluminum gutters and leaders, among the building's refurbishments.
