Washington Twp, Morris, Mayor Re-Elected To Town Committee

Voters in Washington Township (Morris) voted to re-elect incumbents in town committee and school board elections.

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ β€” In addition to the Congressional race, Washington Township (Morris) residents kept the status quo in several local elections this year, voting to re-elect the current mayor and school board incumbents according to unofficial election results.

Both Republican candidates are set to be elected to the Township committee, according to the unofficial election results: Kenneth Short received 4,820 votes and current Mayor Bill Roehrich got 4,818.

Democratic challenger Veronica Fernandez received 3,113 votes.

"Congratulations Bill Roehrich and Ken Short on their re-election to the Township Committee for another term. I look forward to working with you both for the people of Washington Township," Commiteeman Matt Murello, who was not up for re-election, said.

There were also two uncontested school board races, one for local board and one for the West Morris Regional board.

Joseph Galayda and David Kennedy ran unopposed for the two slots on the regional board; Galayda recieved 4,020 votes and Kennedy recieved 3,995.

Justin Kinney and Carmine Capogrosso ran for two of the three local school board slots; Kinney received 3,868 votes and Capogrosso recieved 3,940. Kevin Moore and Jose Lourenco are running for the third seat as a write-in candidates; those results are not included in unofficial vote tallies. This article will be updated when official vote tallies, including write-in votes, are announced.
