Republicans, Democrats Put In Bids For Washington Committee

Three Republicans and two Democrats and vying for their parties nominations.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — The primary election for Township Committee in Washington Township is only contested for one party, according to the Morris County Clerk's Office.

Three Republicans are running for two spots on the ticket; two Democrats are running for two spots. Those elected in the primary will face off in the November general election for two three-year terms.

Current committeeman James LiaBraaten has not filed for reelection; his term expires at the end of the year.

The candidates running are:

  • Republican Casper J. Meijer
  • Republican John Tyler Oborn
  • Republican Greg Franklin Forsbrey R (incumbent)
  • Democrat Veronica Fernandez
  • Democrat Sarah (Sally) Hudson

The primary election is on June 4 and the general election is on Nov. 5. All petitions are pending certification by the County Clerk's Office.
