Scout Troop 236 Supports River Clean-up Effort

River Clean-up

(Bob Falcone)

On April 13th, Long Valley BSA Troop 236 participated in the Raritan Headwards Association’s annual river clean-up event. This year 30 Scouts, Scouters, parents, siblings and friends volunteered to clean-up a mile-long section of the river bed along the Columbia Trail extending from behind the Andrew Hall and Sons industrial complex to Elizabeth Lane.

The crew collected 18 bags of trash along with numerous miscellaneous items including two tires, various pieces of scrap metal, a very large and heavy metal frame, a snow shovel, signs, three buckets, a car muffler, plastic flower pots and unidentifiable plastic scrap.

This was the Troop’s 13th consecutive year participating in this event. Special thanks to all the volunteers and to Andrew Hall and Sons Plumbing, who generously supplied the crew with donuts, juice and water.
