Staffing Changes At Long Valley Elementary School Ahead Of New School Year

It was recently revealed that Jeremy Serfozo, the assistant principal of Cucinella School, would be leaving at the start of the school year.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — An elementary school within the Washington Township School District will undergo a leadership change this upcoming year.

It was recently announced that Jeremy Serfozo, the assistant principal at Cucinella School, would be departing from his role at the beginning of the upcoming academic school year.

According to the Washington Township Board of Education Meeting agenda, Serfozo will be developing the district on Sept. 16.

At the Tuesday, Aug. 29 board meeting, the school board will vote on a motion to hire Daniel O'Connor as the new assistant principal for Cucinella.

According to the agenda, O'Connor is being hired with a salary of $93,500, effective Oct. 30, or sooner if released from his current contract.

Serfozo has taken a position as principal of Florham Park School District's Briarwood Elementary School. Serfozo spent his first 15 years working in education at Florham Park Public Schools, where he taught at Briarwood School and Brooklake Elementary School before going on to Ridgedale Middle School.

The local high school district is also undergoing staff changes ahead of the new school year.

School officials recently announced that there will be two art teachers, two English teachers, two science teachers, three history teachers, a health/physical education teacher, and a shared technology teacher.

It was also stated earlier this summer that Matthew Moscatello would take over as West Morris Central High School's non-supervisory coordinator of athletics and student activities, succeeding Kent Schilling.

This year, a new superintendent of schools has taken over the West Morris Regional High School District after the departure of Michael Ben-David this past year.

During the July 24 Board of Education meeting, Barbara Sargent, who’s been with the Parsippany-Troy Hills school district since 2017, officially took over as superintendent for the upcoming year.

Back-to-school is also just around the corner, with most students in the Washington Township School District starting on Aug. 31.

As we head into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change. Here is the list of dates to know for this school year:

  • First Day: Aug. 31
  • Thanksgiving Break: Nov. 23–24
  • Winter Break: Dec. 25–Jan. 1
  • Spring Break: March 25–29
  • Last Day: June 12
