During a County Commissioners' open work session in Morristown last winter, Betty Cass-Schmidt, chair of the Trail Construction Grant Advisory Committee, presented the grant recommendations, including potential plans.
The presentation went into detail about the potential alterations to the Koehler's Pond loop trail, which include adding a .55-mile gravel and soil trail around Koehler's Pond.
The trail's addition is primarily intended to serve hikers, walkers, and fishermen, with connector spurs linking each area.
The 2023 Trail Construction Grant Program is currently accepting submissions for trail projects funded by the Morris County Preservation Trust Fund. All municipalities in Morris County are eligible for financing and are urged to apply.
The township will discuss the current status of the Koehler’s Pond Trail Project further at a work session meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. on Wednesday in the municipal building.
