On Saturday, June 8th, Eighteen Scouts, Troop leaders, parents and siblings volunteered to assist Troop 236 Eagle Scout candidate Ben Johnston work on his Eagle project. The volunteers cleared away invasive vegetation and debris to create a new 1.2 mile orange blazed trail which will loop off of and back to an existing red blazed trail. These trails can be accessed at the trailhead found on Reservoir Rd, just north of the reservoir. To complete his project Ben will have additional work days to construct puncheon bridges in a low-laying muddy area of the trail, remove an abandoned dirt bike from the woods and paint the orange blaze marks use to guide hikers through the trail. Ben’s project is being sponsored by the Washington Township Trails Committee.

Ben’s volunteers included: Kieran and Caden Abramson, John and Lucas Rowland, Sam and Vinny Salierno, Tom, Ryan and Ethan Van Beuzekom, Micah Lay, Hannah Clarke, Rick Dechiaro, Sean Carpenter, Ben, Willaim, Olivia and Victoria Johnston. Photo by Elaine Johnston.
