Long Valley Teens Have An Exciting Lineup Of Upcoming Library Programs To Choose From

Washington Township Public Library offers teen programs in October - some on Zoom - from crafting to cooking to yoga to reading to writing.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — During the month of October, Long Valley teens can participate in a wide variety of programs at the Washington Township Public Library, some embracing the fall and Halloween themes.

On Wednesday, Oct. 6 from 7 to 8 p.m., teens between grades 6 to 12 can take part in a writing workshop on Zoom, which includes “practice with writing prompts.” Click here to register.

The “Teen Take Home” craft is another fun thing for Washington Township teens grades six and up. The craft kits will be available on Friday, Oct. 8, with pickup no later than between noon to 5 p.m. that day, to make two Macrame fall leaves. Click here to register and receive a pick up notification for the craft supplies. To complete the craft, teens will need: scissors, a comb or brush and hairspray to stiffen the project; or once completed, an appointment can be made at the library to spray leaves there.

Teen Bring Your Own Book or “BYOB” Club will meet at the Washington Township Public Library from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 13. Teens from grades 6-12 can bring a book that they’re reading, with the event at the library on 37 East Springtown Road. Teens should get registered online, should the library decide instead to make the program a Zoom one. Should it meet at the library, masks and social distancing will be required. “Twisted Teen Yoga,” open to those in grades 6-12 on Tuesday, Oct. 19 from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m., will combine mindfulness with stretching for teens. Mats will be provided to participants and teens should bring along masks and expect to socially distance, if in person. Teens should be registered online, should the format switch to Zoom, to be sent a link. Click here for registration.

Halloween crafts will be part of the fun during the Teen Fiber Arts Workshop on Wednesday, Oct. 20 from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. With priority to Washington Township teens in the sixth to 12th grades, the kids will create needle-felted sculptures and use sharp tools to make them. Only six people per room will be permitted for the program; and participating teens will need to be masked up during the event. Click this link to register.

“Toxic Mac and Cheese” is on the menu on Monday, Oct. 25, from 7 to 8 p.m., a spooky menu item that teens from grades 6 to 12, will create for “Teen Make.” Teens will need to be registered to pick up their kit and will require a whisk, saucepan, two tablespoons of butter, a spoon and 1.25 cups of milk, to make the ghoulishly-good macaroni.
