Vigil Planned For Teen Killed In Long Valley Crash

LONG VALLEY, NJ — A candlelight vigil will be held on Tuesday night in honor of a 17-year-old Hackettstown girl who died after her vehicle hit a utility pole early Saturday morning in Long Valley.

The vigil will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Hackettstown’s open field on Fifth Avenue, next to Hatchery Hill School.

Although authorities didn't disclose her name, a GoFundMe page and Hackettstown Mayor Jerry DiMaio identified Isabella Todaro as the victim of the fatal Saturday crash.

“To honor Isabella, the family would like for all family, friends, students, and anyone else who would like to join in a candlelight vigil,” DiMaio said.

The crash occurred just before 2:30 a.m. on Flocktown Road, near Nestlingwood Drive, police said.

“The involved vehicle struck a utility pole, causing significant damage,” police said in a statement.

Todaro died at the scene.

A GoFundMe page supporting Isabella's family has raised more than $53,000 as of Tuesday morning. Todaro, a Hackettstown High School senior, had a bright future ahead of her, according to the fundraising page.

"She was a hard worker and loved spending time with friends, family and had a special bond with twin brother Louis. We will always remember her bright blue eyes and contagious laugh," Sheila Bencivengo wrote on the GoFundMe page.

Washington Township police said that they will continue to investigate but will release no further details.

"It is not natural for a parent to lose a child, under any circumstances. I don’t know the Todaro family, but I spoke to Hackettstown’s Mayor DiMaio earlier and he tells me that the family is devastated and that they are an amazing family that loves their town," Washington Township Mayor Matthew Murello said.
