Washington Township PD Now Offering Medicine Drop Box

The drop box is located inside headquarters and is available to residents 24/7, police said.

WASHINGTON TWP., N.J.– The Washington Township Police Department is now providing a free medicine drop box inside the lobby of headquarters.

The drop box "affords residents the opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted, unused or expired prescriptions in a safe, secure and anonymous way, free of charge," according to a news release from the department.

While the box is available 24/7, the department said the best hours of disposal are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Acceptable items:

  • Prescription and over the counter medications;
  • Vitamins;
  • Medication samples;
  • Veterinary medications;
  • Narcotics.

The following items are not acceptable:

  • Needles;
  • IV bags;
  • Inhalers;
  • Thermometers and other mercury items.
