Washington Township Police Put Aside Their Razors For A Cause
This year's 'no-shave November' movement will help a local combat veteran.

LONG VALLEY, NJ - Don't be alarmed by the hairy visages of the Washington Township Police Department as they begin a month of scruffy faces as part of the No Shave November fundraiser for 2020.
The Washington Township Police Chief Jeffrey Almer gave approval for his officers to participate in the event, which is used to raise money for charitable causes.
"This year the cause is near and dear to Washington Township and the Borough of Califon," police said in a statement. "A local military combat veteran is under the care of a full time health care aide, which has become a tremendous financial burden to the family."

As a result, Almer is allowing members of the Washington Township Police Department to participate in the program as well as to double down and maintain the effort through December.
The members of the department who take part will be donating $50 to a GoFundMe account that is being established by the Washington Township PBA 301 for the months of November and December.

In only a few days, the officers raised more than $3,000 towards their $5,000 goal.
"We will be accepting donations until the end of the year. We have remained stronger together during this crazy year and can continue on by supporting a local military veteran," police said. "As officers of this department and members of the Police Benevolent Association 301, we thank you for your continued support as we work hard to continue to serve you."
