Washington Township Psychologist Offering Free Support Group
The first session of Dr. Peggy DeLong's "Coping with Loss" is slated for Dec. 13.

WASHINGTON TWP., N.J.– With the holidays approaching, Washington Township psychologist Margaret "Peggy" DeLong is offering a free support group for those coping with loss.
The first meeting is slated for Dec. 13 from 7-8:30 p.m. at 41 E. Mill Road in Long Valley.
"Last week, I conducted a free workshop...on Coping with Loss During the Holidays," DeLong, a clinical and forensic psychologist, told Patch, "[and] based on the feedback from those in attendance, it became apparent that Long Valley is in need of an ongoing coping with loss support group."

According to DeLong, the group is designed to provide support, education and resources for those who are coping with the loss of a loved one.
Additionally, she said, the group helps attendees:

- Take care of themselves and their needs;
- Discover methods for coping with grief;
- Plan ways of obtaining emotional support;
- Anticipate and plan for difficult situations;
- Obtain emotional support from group members;
- Learn about the process of grief, mourning and healing;
- Handle anniversaries, holidays, birthdays, special events, and more.
The group will continue past the holidays and meet on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month.
