Washington Twp. Land Trust Cleans Local Paths And Trails, Seeks Help
The Washington Township Land Trust is seeking donations and volunteers for its trail clean-up initiative.
LONG VALLEY, NJ — The Washington Township Land Trust has launched an initiative to clean up the area’s trails and pathways, and is asking residents for assistance.
In honor of National Trails Day, which was June 1, the environmental organization has launched a campaign to fund major trail clean-ups throughout the summer.
According to the trust, the funds will be used to purchase new stewardship tools for its shed and to purchase a new brush hog, a type of rotary mower that attaches to a tractor. The brush hog will be used to maintain local meadows.

The organization has already started to maintain local wooded areas, including at Mill Pond Park. Earlier this month, volunteers cleared logs, mowed grass, and trimmed back vegetation around the area.
“Summer stewardship season is in full swing at Mill Pond Park, and of course, there's always plenty to be taken care of,” a statement read. “Also, if anyone is interested in volunteering their time with us to help keep our properties in tip-top shape, we're always looking for additional help.”
