West Morris Central Staff Isolate Gas Supply As Fire Crews Arrive

A generator fire at West Morris Central High School started in a generator and was discovered in the wee hours when staff arrived.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — West Morris Central High School staff who arrived to work early Wednesday morning found a generator on fire and were able to isolate the gas supply while emergency crews were on their way, according to the Long Valley Fire Company.

Long Valley Fire Company No. 1 reported they responded to the fire at 4:21 a.m.

The fire was extinguished without issue, the department said. Damage to the generator is extensive, according to the fire department's report. Emergency crews left the school about an hour after their arrival.
