LONG VALLEY, NJ — Are you ready to take down your fresh-cut Christmas tree, but you're not sure what to do with it now that the season is over?

Christmas trees are collected from the curbside in many urban and suburban regions throughout January, as long as all lights, wire, tinsel, ornaments, nails and stands are removed.

In most cases, the trees are chipped and turned into mulch, which is then made available to municipal or county residents for free.
