WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — Residents in Washington Township look to have a straightforward primary at the local level this June, with no intra-party contests set up for township committee.

Republican committee member Kenneth Short, who is also the former mayor, is not seeking re-election when his term expires this year. Incumbent Bill Roerich will run with Walter Curioni on the GOP ticket, for two seats on the committee.

The Democratic Party has selected John R. Holt, a member of the Washington Township Land Trust, as their single candidate.

The primary for Morris County Sheriff and three commissioners' seats this year looks uncontested, with no Republican challengers seeking to unseat incumbents in their own party.

This candidate field is not yet final, as the petitions must be verified. The deadline for candidates to file a nomination petition for the primary election was Monday at 4 p.m.
