Long Valley Youth Girls Soccer Players Invited To Upcoming Soccer Night
The Mendham Girls Soccer Team is hosting a special night with youth players from Long Valley, the Chesters and the Mendhams invited.
LONG VALLEY, NJ — When West Morris Central High School’s girls soccer team heads to Mendham on Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. to face Mendham High School, Long Valley youth players are invited to be there for a special youth soccer night during the game.
The Mendham girls soccer team is hosting the event as a way to breed excitement among the youth players in all of the towns for the soccer programs at the two West Morris Regional High Schools, West Morris Mendham and West Morris Central, where youth players may eventually decide to play themselves.
“We are inviting all youth girls soccer players from Long Valley, the Chesters and the Mendhams and partnering with the West Morris Soccer Club and Long Valley Soccer Association,” Mendham girls soccer team’s Head Coach Sean Goldsworthy told Patch.

“I thought it would be a great idea to involve both schools in the district and towns of Long Valley, Chester and Mendham and use the interconference games between the sister schools as a great opportunity to get the youth players excited,” Goldsworthy continued.
The youth players will have their own roles during the game, Goldsworthy said, ushering the high school teams onto the field during opening ceremonies, volunteering as ball girls, leading the teams onto the field as announcements are made and potentially participating in the coin toss.

Goldsworthy said the youth players will compete in their own challenges and contests during the game’s halftime, with chances to win prizes.
Mendham and West Morris Central girls soccer teams are both forces to be reckoned with on the turf, with Mendham’s season so far 5-0-1, as well as holding the top seed in the Morris County Tournament (MCT) and first-round bye. West Morris Central’s girls team is 4-1-1, having taken the MCT’s second seed.
