Animals Displaced By Vermont Flooding Find Shelter In Morris County
Following massive flooding in Vermont, 15 cats and three dogs were picked up and transported to an animal shelter in Madison.
MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — Approximately 15 cats and three dogs from shelters in Vermont are now at shelters in Morris County following an emergency rescue out of the Windham County Humane Society in Brattleboro, Vermont.
The St. Hubert's transport team drove to Vermont on Tuesday, July 11, to pick up the remaining cats and dogs that needed to be relocated.
"These animals were already in the Vermont shelter and available for adoption prior to the storm," Diane Ashton, St. Hubert’s Director of Communications said.

While the Windham shelter itself was unharmed, many surrounding areas were severely damaged as a result of the "intense rainstorms caused catastrophic flooding in Vermont," Ashton said.
The rescue will allow the Windham County Humane Society to make room for displaced pets who will be arriving as a result of flooding in neighboring, more severely affected communities until those animals can be reunited with their families.

St. Hubert's Madison location, 575 Woodland Ave., is open for adoptions daily from 1:30 to 6 p.m.
With this influx of animals, St. Hubert’s is urging the community to help by adopting or fostering a pet. Fostering is an excellent way to provide an animal with a temporary reprieve from the shelter until they find a permanent home. "It’s rewarding and fun too," Ashton said.
Anyone interested in adopting a shelter animal can view all available animals on St. Hubert's website.
