Hundreds Sign Up For No-Visit List
About 300 residents signed up in one day to avoid being disturbed by people going door-to-door.

Police records secretary Kristy Manion said about 300 residents called to be added to the list after police sent a Nixle alert about the No-Visit List last week.
She said residents should call 973-593-3017 if they want to be added to the list.

Free “No Soliciting or Canvassing” decals also are available to all residents on the list.
If a solicitor does visit a residence that's on the list, the resident should call police at 973-593-3000 so enforcement action can be taken, according to a page on the Madison Police website. Violators could be fined or lose their license to go door-to-door.

Residents may request to be removed from the list at anytime. The published No-Visit List will only include street addresses, with no names, phone numbers or other information.
The Borough Council unanimously passed an ordinance that called for the creation of the No-Visit List on Aug. 22. It also detailed a fee structure for such vendors. Charitable organizations are exempt from paying the fee.
