MADISON, NJ — The Madison Borough Council recently announced plans to complete a playground renovation project at Dodge Field.

Councilwoman Debra Coen delivered an updated report outlining the progress of constructing an inclusive playground for the benefit and enjoyment of all kids.

According to Coen, the playground was last renovated in 2006.

This project is anticipated to cost between $550,000 and $650,000 in total. Included in this is the $125,000 grant from Morris County Open Space Recreation and Historic Preservation that Madison is set to receive.

The focus of the new playground will be to be as inclusive as possible for all children in the borough. According to the presentation, the updates will include interactive equipment such as musical instruments, swings, slides, and a wheelchair-accessible merry-go-round among other things.

According to Coen, the hope is to not disturb any trees, but in the event that any do need to be removed, they will be replaced in a separate area of the playground.

Following the presentation, all of the borough council members expressed their admiration for Coen's commitment to the project and support for the new updates.

The next stage of the procedure is to present a finished plan and make it available for public and committee feedback, Coen said.
