Locals Turnout for Madison Elections, Supporting Both Republicans and Democrats
Less than half of Madison's voters cast their ballots. Alliances were split with Democrats winning locally and Republicans winning big.

Out of the 10,369 registered voters in Madison, only 4,274 turned out to cast a vote in yesterday’s election, where Democrats Carmela Vitale and Robert Landrigan beat out Republican Mark Chiarolanza for the two open council seats.
Madison’s overall election turnout was very similar to the turnout throughout Morris County. Countywide, just over half of registered Morris County residents voted in yesterday’s election. Out of the 329,199 voters in the county, just 119,361 voted in their town elections yesterday.
Madison residents supported Republican Freeholder candidate Lyon over Davis, the Democratic opposition 2,037 votes to 1,783. In the congressional election, Madisonians supported Republican incumbent Frelinghuysen over Democrat Mark Dunec, 2,425 to 1,639 votes.

The Madison Board of Education election was a very narrow race. The winners of the Madison Board of Education elections are incumbents David Arthur and Shade Grahling running for their third term, and challenger Debra Coen. Thomas Piskula, receiving 23 percent of the vote, was defeated in the election.
Nationwide, the Republican Party reclaimed the United States Senate. However, voters in Madison pledged an overwhelming support to Corey Booker, the Democratic candidate defending his Senate seat.
