Madison Grad Rookie of the Week in College Conference

Carson Lassiter had big game for SUNY Cortland.

Madison High School graduate Carson Lassiter is the defensive rookie of the week for the New Jersey Athletic Conference.

Lassiter, a freshman cornerback for SUNY Cortland, was quarterback for the Dodgers during the team's last two championship seasons.

He helped the Red Dragons beat William Paterson 26-15 on Saturday.

"Lassiter registered seven tackles in the contest, with six of his tackles solo. He also recorded a pass breakup and a fourth-quarter fumble recovery," SUNY Cortland Athletics said.

Lassiter "currently ranks tied for third in the NJAC in passes defended per game (1.50)," according to a conference announcement about the players of the week (PDF).
