Madison HS Jumps 30 Points in Newsweek's List of the Best High Schools Nationwide
Newsweek's annual report, listing 700 schools nationwide, ranks Madison High School at number 267, nearly 30 notches up from last year.

Talk about a jump start! Madison High School is already ahead of the game and the school year hasn’t even started yet. MHS now holds the honor of being ranked as one of the best schools in the nation by Newsweek.
Today, Newsweek announced its rankings of more than 700 public, private, charter and magnet schools across the country, and Madison High School comes in at number 267. That’s a monumental improvement from last year, when Newsweek ranked MHS at number 296. Although, this appears to be somewhat of a yearly trend, considering that Madison High School came in at 276 in 2012.
Newsweek used six indicators for its ranking methodology, its Daily Beast website said, including graduation and college acceptance rates; college-level courses and exams; percentage of students with free or reduced lunch; and SAT and ACT scores.
According to Newsweek, Madison High School’s graduation rate is 95-percent with 96-percent of seniors enrolling in college after graduation. Additionally, 9-percent of students take participate in free or reduced lunch programs.

The average SAT and ACT scores for Madison High Schools students are 1797 and 25.5, respectively. Newsweek found that the level of rigor at MHS is considerably high, with 26-percent of students enrolled in Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate classes, with 84-percent of those students passing their AP/IB exams at the conclusion of the course.
Students return to Madison schools on Sept. 4.
