Madison Police Blotter: Man Arrested for Heroin, Teens Arrested on Drug Charges

In the latest police blotter from the Madison Borough Police Department, a man was arrested for heroin, several people were arrested for driving while intoxicated, a pair of teens were arrested on drugs charges and more.

On March 19, 2015, at 7:37 a.m., Ptl. Vincent Dellavalle arrested a 49-year-old resident of Wharton. While on patrol Ptl. Dellavalle identified the suspect, as a person entered “wanted”, in the National Crime Information Center (N.C.I.C) data base. When arresting the suspect, officers found him to be in possession of a hypodermic syringe, seven glassine folds of suspected heroin and Suboxone pills. The suspect was charged with two counts Possession of a Schedule I Narcotic (Heroin), Possession of a Schedule III Narcotic (Suboxone), Possession of Hypodermic Needle and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Honorable Gary F. Troxell set bail at $25,000 with no 10% option. The suspect was incarcerated at the Morris County Correctional Facility in default of bail.

On March 22, 2015, at 4 a.m., Ptl. Bart Glab arrested a 44-year-old resident of Madison. Glab stopped the suspect after observing an alleged motor vehicle violation take place on Main Street. While Glab was speaking with the suspect, he detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath and determined she was operating her vehicle under the influence of alcohol, over the legal limit. The suspect was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Driving While Intoxicated in a School Zone, Reckless Driving and other motor vehicle offenses. Additionally, it was discovered that Wallace had a $500.00 Failure to Appear warrant issued by the Paramus Municipal Court. The suspect posted bail and was released to a friend pending her appearance in the Madison Municipal Court.

On March 24, 2015, at 10:42 p.m., Ptl. Carmine DeCaro arrested a 57-year-old resident of Madison. Decaro stopped the suspect for alleged motor vehicle violations that took place while driving on Park Avenue. While DeCaro was speaking with the suspect, DeCaro detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath and that she was operating her vehicle under the influence of alcohol, over the legal limit. The suspect was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Driving While Intoxicated in a School Zone, Careless Driving, Failure to Stop or Yield and Headlights Required. The suspect was later released to a friend pending her appearance in the Madison Municipal Court.

On March 28, 2015, at 12:45 a.m., Ptl. Bart Glab arrested a 24-year-old resident of Colts Neck, New Jersey. Glab stopped the suspect for alleged speeding violation on Madison Avenue. While speaking with the suspect, Glab detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on the suspect’s breath and that she was operating her vehicle under the influence of alcohol, over the legal limit. The suspect was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Driving While Intoxicated in a School zone and numerous motor vehicle offenses. The suspect was released to a family member pending her appearance in the Madison Municipal Court.

On March 29, 2015, at 12:10 a.m., Ptl. Glab arrested a 21-year-old resident of Hollis, New York. Glab stopped a vehicle Brittin Street that the suspect was riding in as a passenger. While gathering the driver’s credentials the odor of marijuana was detected from inside the vehicle. Glab was able to determine that the suspect was in possession of the suspected marijuana. The suspect was charged with Possession of Marijuana less that 50 grams and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The suspect was released on his own recognizance pending his appearance in the Madison Municipal Court.

On March 29, 2015, at 3:27 a.m., Ptl. Spiro Milonas arrested a 22-year-old resident of Chatham. Madison officers responded to Drew University on a reported intoxicated individual who was trespassing on campus. When officers arrived, the suspect was identified and continued to act in a tumultuous manner. The suspect was charged with Disorderly Conduct and released on his own recognizance pending his appearance in the Madison Municipal Court.

On March 30, 2015, at 8:07 p.m., Ptl. Goncalves and Ptl. Milonas arrested a 17-year-old Madison resident and 16-year-old Chatham resident following a motor vehicle stop on Kings Road. Officers stop a vehicle the 17-year-old was operating after observing an alleged violation take place on Madison Avenue. While the driver was providing his credentials to the officers they observed a jar containing suspected marijuana in the glove compartment. Both juveniles were taken into custody and later released to their parents. The juvenile detective is conducting a follow- up into this matter.

On March 31, 2015, at 11:03 a.m., Ptl. Joseph DiRocco arrested a 31-year-old resident of Irvington, New Jersey. DiRocco stopped the suspect for allegedly operating her vehicle on Park Avenue with an expired registration. When DiRocco conducted a look-up of the suspect’s driver’s license he discovered she had a Failure to Appear warrant issued from the Lincoln Park Municipal Court for $89. The suspect posted bail and is scheduled to appear in the Lincoln Park Municipal Court.

The Madison Police Department responded on 83 medical calls, 46 motor vehicle crashes and 70 activated alarms during the month of March.
