Madison resident Michael K. Shindle will replace longstanding Devils’ team orthopedist Barry Fisher for the hockey team’s upcoming season. Fisher worked as the team’s orthopedist since they moved from Colorado to New Jersey in 1982.

Shindle is an attending orthopedic surgeon at Summit Medical Group and he was a doctor for Team USA at the world championships in Prague, according to nj.com.

“A USA Hockey certified coach, he has completed the highest level of training at the USA Hockey Continuing Education Program in Washington DC,” according to the Summit Medical Group website. “Although there are approximately 60,000 USA hockey-certified coaches, only 3% of them have obtained the Level-5 recognition Dr. Shindle has earned.”
