Man Killed By Train in Madison Wednesday Night

New Jersey Transit said man trespassed and was fatally struck by oncoming vehicle.

A man in his early 70s trespassed at the Madison Train Station Wednesday night and was struck and killed by an oncoming passenger train, New Jersey Transit said.

The incident occurred just after 11 p.m. as the Dover to Hoboken train on the Morris/Essex Line was coming into the Madison station, an NJT spokesman said.

None of the 100 passengers and three crew members aboard the train were injured as a result of the incident.

Traffic was suspended for roughly an hour.

No more details regarding the victim have been released pending notification of his family.
