Police Blotter: Man Lying down in Street Charged with Possession
Short Hills resident also charged with failure to appear on traffic warrant.

On Jan. 20, police arrested Joseph Galano, 50, of Short Hills, and charged him with possession of narcotics and failure to appear on the strength of a $225 traffic warrant. Police initially stopped Galano for lying down on the roadway. After a computer check, police were alerted Galano had an outstanding traffic warrant. Police determined he had narcotics in his possession. He was transported to headquarters for processing. After processing he was released pending a court appearance.
On Jan. 19, police arrested Samuel Strausser, 37 of Shawnee, Pa., on the strength of a $250 traffic warrant. Police ran a computer check on the vehicle Strausser was driving and were alerted that he had an outstanding traffic warrant. He was transported to headquarters for processing. After processing he was released pending a court appearance.
On Jan. 20, police arrested Andrew Baxter, 20 of Pennington, and charged him with possession of narcotics with the intent to distribute, distribution of narcotics near a school zone, and trespassing. Police determined Baxter was in possession of narcotics when Drew University Public Safety officers requested Madison Police Department to remove Baxter from campus for trespassing. He was transported to headquarters for processing. After processing, Baxter was released pending a court appearance. Detective John Miscia assisted in the arrest and also charged Baxter with theft of the narcotics he had in his possession.

On Jan. 21, police arrested Liza Angulo, 23 of Elizabeth, and charged her with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police initially stopped Angulo after running a computer check on the license plate of the vehicle she was driving. After being alerted that Angulo's driver's license was suspended, police determined she was in possession of narcotics. She was transported to headquarters for processing. After processing she was released pending a court appearance. Angulo was also issued a summons for driving with a suspended drivers license, and possession of narcotics within a motor vehicle.
On Jan. 23, police arrested Irene Correa, 24, of Dover, on the strength of a $190 traffic warrant. Correa came into police headquarters after being notified by Madison Court. After processing she was released pending a court appearance.

On Jan. 23, police arrested Nicholas Yedilbalian, 19, of Madison, for driving while under the influence. Police initially stopped Yedilbalian for speeding on Woodland Road. Police determined he was under the influence of alcohol. He was transported to police headquarters for processing. After processing he was released to a family member. Yedilbalian was also issued a summons for speeding.
The Madison Police Department and Volunteer Corps responded to 21 medical emergencies during the past week. The department investigated 11 motor vehicle crashes during the same period.
