Police: Man Wanted for Madison Assault Refused to Leave St. Paddy's Party
Evan Scott, 26, was arrested Saturday during Morristown's St. Patrick's Day celebration.
A former Madison resident wanted for assault was arrested Saturday for refusing to leave a Morristown bar.
Evan Scott, 26, was arrested at about 8 p.m. Saturday by two Madison police officers who were working with the Morris County Rapid Deployment Team during Morristown's St. Patrick's Day festivities.
Madison Sgt. Sean Plumstead and Officer Luis Goncalves were assisting with crowd control when they were summoned to assist with a disorderly patron who was asked to leave and not return, police said. The name of the bar was not released.
The patron continued to return to the bar and said he had the right to celebrate, according to police. Scott told the officers he had just gotten off a plane from Bermuda, police said.
When the officers looked at his Bermuda driver's license, they realized he was the same person wanted on assault charges for a November 2013 incident in Madison, police said.
Scott was arrested and transported to the Morris County Correctional Facility in lieu of $7,500 bail with no 10 percent option.
