Re/Max Achievers Win AA Title
A two-out rally and strong defense contributed to championship win.

In the Little League AA championship game played Saturday on Sonny Vitale Memorial Field, Re/Max Achievers beat an undefeated Town and Country, 6-1.
and played previously on April 25, with Town and Country prevailing in the first matchup, 9-4. It turned out to be the last loss for Re/Max, which went unbeaten in their final nine games of the season.
While Re/Max's previous two playoff victories were won with late inning, come from behind rallies, Re/Max maintained a lead throughout the championship game.

The game began with Re/Max seizing the lead with two runs in the first inning with hits by Tyler Grant, John Geier, Dylan Malloy and Matthew Metzler. Town and Country battled back with a run in the second inning.
At the top of the third, Re/Max added three runs to take a 5-1 lead. As in the first inning, the rally began with a hit by Tyler Grant and was followed by consecutive two-out hits by Matthew Mauro, Dylan Malloy, Matthew Metzler, and Christopher Smith. After two hits by Town and Country to start the bottom of the fourth inning, Re/Max would not allow another hit as Re/Max retired the final nine opposing batters in succession.

The Re/Max defense was strong in the final three innings. In the fourth inning, Matthew Metzler made a fine play at shortstop, throwing the ball to Jared Pine to complete a force-out at second base. The fifth inning featured a strong play by Tyler Grant at first base to end the inning.
But Re/Max saved its finest defense for the last inning. While John Geier certainly pitched well, it was with his glove in the sixth inning that he made two fantastic plays on the mound, including jumping to field a high chopper and making a strong throw to first.
The final play of the game was a ground ball to second base which Paul Boorujy fielded and was squeezed by Tyler Grant, who made all three putouts at first base in the final inning.
The Re/Max pitching was strong with Matthew Metzler pitching three innings and striking out four batters and Charlie Muhlenberg pitching a scoreless fourth inning with two strikeouts. That set up John Geier, who pitched a perfect final two innings while striking out two.

Re/Max finished its season with nine wins, two losses and one tie (9-2-1).
