The Madison Public Schools budget was defeated for the first time since 1995, according to school records. But not every polling location voted against it.
A breakdown of the numbers collected by the county showed that residents voting at New Life Fellowship supported the budget 496 to 419. It was the only one of the four locations to have more "yes" votes than "no" votes.
The polling station where participants voted against the budget by the largest margin was the Madison Housing Authority, with 61 more voters selecting "no" in their booths. The largest overall gap was at New Life Fellowship, where 77 more people voted in favor of the budget. Only 10 more people voted "no" than "yes" at Madison Public Library, the smallest margin of all polling stations.

The following is a closer look at the votes that were cast on Tuesday. The first question was for the general fund budget and the second question asked voters if they wished to restore both the position of visual and performing arts supervisor and the Madison Junior School's interscholastic sports program.
