Snow Event Downgraded Considerably for Madison

Pair of sporting events still canceled for fear of storm that is crushing Mid-Atlantic.

It's beginning to look like Madison, and Morris County in general, dodged a snow bullet Friday night and this morning.

While towns in the Mid-Atlantic are having snowfall records challenged, Madison experienced snow even lighter than Tuesday's small storm, and almost all of it during the overnight hours.

The National Weather Service has canceled its winter weather advisory, which had never really called for any specific amounts from the beginning in this area.

The new forecast is for the borough to get only between 1-3 inches. As late as 1 a.m. this morning the reports were for 4-8 inches.

However, the threat of snow still canceled a few events. The Madison High School wrestling team's quad meet at Cedar Grove today was canceled before evening fell on Friday. The same was the case for the NJSIAA indoor track and field sectional meet in Toms River.

However, the Morris County Tournament boys basketball game tonight at Madison High School between the Dodgers and Morris Hills is still on as of now for 5 p.m., with no indication it will be derailed.
