The 4 Custodial Service Companies Eyed by District

Pritchard Industries, GCA Services Group, Temco Building Maintenance and Aramark Education submitted proposals.

The companies have been on the radar of other Morris County schools that recently considered outsourcing custodial services, including Roxbury, Kinnelon and Montville.

Board of Education members and adminstrators are continuing to review proposals submitted by the companies as a possible way to increase custodial staff within the confines of the school budget, officials said.

A committee of board members and administrators plans to narrow the field to two or three choices when the committee meets after spring break, business administrator Gary Lane said.

District officials then would call school districts where the finalist companies worked and arrange in-person interviews with the people who would serve as on-site managers if the company was to be selected.

All four of the companies, plus Sodexo, were being considered a year ago by Roxbury schools, Madison Superintendent Dr. Michael Rossi's previous district. GCA Services Group recently , starting mid-year during the previous school year, after the district opted to outsource custodial services.

All four companies also were considered by Kinnelon schools. In 2010, Kinnelon was poised to award a contract to Aramark, but last-minute concessions led to the Board of Education keeping the jobs in the district.
