Week in Review: Snow, Christmas Come to Madison

White scenes paint downtown, other parts of town during week leading up to, and containing, holiday.

This week started with a coating of snow, courtesy of a storm that drove on through Saturday night and into Sunday morning. Although not much was affected as far as what was open in town – many businesses and all schools were closed as normal on the weekend – residents still needed to dig out. The snow also gave children a chance to play and sleigh ride, with many going to Drew University and Madison Golf Club for fun.

On Monday we told you about the Madison indoor track team's meet at Drew University from over the weekend. The snow consolidated the meet, but the Dodgers were still able to compete. We also gave you some ideas for holiday shopping, with our guides for toys for under $25 and where to buy gifts for the very young.

On Tuesday, we told you what to do with those candy canes. We also gave you some ideas on edible gifts. Finally, we told you that gift cards could actually be a personal gift this season.

On Thursday, we looked at the varsity teams again, with reports on the wrestling team's second meet in two days, and the girls swim team's meet at County College of Morris. We also gave you a look at some more homemade, edible gifts.
