2 Teens Charged In Bergen County Carjacking In Which Victim Jumped On Hood: Prosecutor
Two teens were charged Friday in a carjacking at a business in Bergen County, prosecutors said.
MAHWAH, NJ — Two Passaic County teens have been arrested in connection with a carjacking in Lodi in March, said prosecutors Wednesday.
Davon White, 18, of Paterson, and a 17-year-old juvenile from Passaic County were charged with first-degree carjacking, said Bergen County prosecutors.
They said that on March 12, around 10 p.m., officers from the Lodi Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle being stolen from a business on Route 46 West.

The victim told police that he was inside the business when witnesses told him his vehicle was being stolen outside.
He ran toward the vehicle and jumped on the hood while it was stopped at a nearby red light, prosecutors said. But when the light turned green, the vehicle kept driving, with the victim on the hood. He fell off and the car fled, prosecutors said.

Detectives identified the two teens as the prime suspects, and ultimately recovered the stolen vehicle.
Last Friday, the 17-year-old juvenile was taken into protective custody by detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office. He was charged with carjacking, as well as third-degree theft by unlawful taking (motor vehicle). He is being held at a juvenile detention center, police said.
White was already in jail and was charged that day with carjacking, first-degree use of a juvenile to commit a criminal offense, second-degree robbery,
third-degree theft by unlawful taking, and third-degree altering a motor vehicle.
