$835,000 Bid Approved To Improve Municipal Pool In Mahwah

A base bid and two alternate bids were awarded to a Waldwick contractor to improve the municipal pool.

MAHWAH, NJ — A bid in the amount of $835,000 was awarded last week to Heuer & Company: Commercial Construction, of Waldwick, to improve the Mahwah municipal pool on Darlington Avenue.

Capital funds budgeted over the past several years will support the project, Township Administrator Ben Kezmarsky said in a statement.

Mike Kelly, the township engineer, recommended awarding the base bid package and alternates to the contractor during Thursday's township council meeting; the contract was approved as a consent agenda item.

The scope of work, Patch previously reported, will consist of water-blasting the pool shell, installing a new interior finish, repairing the joints, and replacing the deck and filter system, which, Kelly said at the meeting, has "reached the end of its useful life."

The township intends to have the work on the facility's main pool completed by April 28, 2023, an advertisement for the bids said.

Ideally, the contract work will minimize facilities maintenance for the Department of Public Works, Kelly said.
