Affordable Housing Fight This Week on Patch

A wrestling school with two other locations in New Jersey has opened a third in Mahwah. Check Patch this week to find out more about why the renowned school decided to make Mahwah its new home.

How Affordable Is It?

A group of residents living in Affordable Housing units in Mahwah are facing the 95-5 rule. The regulation states that if a homeowner sells a matured affordable housing unit at market value, he or she would keep the restricted value, and have to give 95% of the difference to the town’s affordable housing trust fund.

The 95-5 rule was instituted in 2004, after the residents purchased their units. But, township officials say the rule is retroactive.

Now, a group of residents is getting together to fight Mahwah’s implementation of the 95-5 rule. Check Patch this week for an update on the residents’ plan.

Getting Bigger

Mahwah Honda built a new location in Mahwah about two years ago. Now, their original location is working to expand to accommodate a still-growing demand. See more about the expansion plan this week.
