Bergen Boy With Blood Disorder Named Chief For A Day
A.J. of Lodi has been battling a rare blood disorder since he was 2. He is a 'true inspiration,' Chief Robert Anzilotti said.
BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A 6-year-old boy battling a rare blood disorder has been named chief of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office for a day.
A.J. of Lodi will be chief of detectives on Friday. The prosecutor's office Friday posted a video online of A.J. meeting with Chief Rob Anzilotti.
A.J. has battled a form of anemia since he was 2 months old. He undergoes "constant therapy" and takes medication daily, Anzilotti said.

"He is a true inspiration, and that's why we decided to pick him as our chief for a day this year," Anzilotti said in the video.
Anzilotti presented A.J. with a LEGO replica of the prosecutor's office mobile command center and a chief's uniform he will wear while on the job Friday.

A.J. is also a New York Mets fan. In the video, Anzilotti asked the Mets to partner with the prosecutor's office to give A.J. "an amazing Citi Field experience."
Ryan Morik, a member of the Mets' media relations department, said that to his knowledge, the Mets have not yet been in contact with anyone from the prosecutor's office to help fulfill the request.
