Bergen Co. 'Distinguished Citizens' To Be Recognized At Ramapo College

Four individuals will be honored for a commitment to advance higher education, and their support of and service to Ramapo College.

MAHWAH, NJ — A global sourcing director at UPS, two Ramapo College parents and a local hospital CEO will be honored for their commitment to advance higher education, and support of and service to the Mahwah-based college.

Harold Bolton, Global Director of IT Vendor Management at UPS; Douglas Holden and Jean Weng, parents of Ramapo senior Austin Holden; and Deborah Visconi, president and CEO at Bergen New Bridge Medical Center, which hosted COVID-19 vaccine clinics at the college, are the four nominees.

Bolton, a Ramapo graduate, formerly taught as an adjunct at the college's first-year seminar program. Holden and Weng (an orthopedic and oral surgeon, respectively) established an endowed educational scholarship at the college.

All four nominees will be honored at the Ramapo College Foundation's largest fundraising event of the year, the Distinguished Citizens Gala, which will be held on April 14 at the Rockleigh Country Club.

“These individuals exemplify what we strive to instill in all of our students: an ethos of civic engagement, ethical leadership and the willingness to give back," Christopher Romano, the foundation's Executive Director, said.

The Gala provides the college an opportunity to recognize the nominees, while raising funds for scholarships, and research and other campus initiatives, a news release said.
