According to a preliminary investigation, Englewood officers responded to Englewood Avenue on Sept. 3 on a report of a domestic violence disturbance involving a man with a knife reportedly stabbing and trying to kill individuals inside the home.

Police found one of the three stabbing victims in the bathroom, and then found Placide in a bedroom armed with a knife. Officers issued multiple commands for him to drop the weapon. When Placide failed to comply, the AG's office said, officer Brian Havlicek shot him with the stun gun. Another officer, Luana Sharpe, discharged her weapon, fatally wounding Placide.
