Bus Safety Inspection Reports Available Online
After either initial inspection or reexamination, all Mahwah buses passed. Parents can check details of the inspections by bus number.

Mahwah parents putting their kids on the school bus each morning now have an online resource to check the bus's safety.
Since last fall, the Motor Vehicle Commission has released synopses of its semiannual school bus inspections online. Its site was recently updated with the summertime inspections.
Parents can search the database by bus company name, district, or zip code, and then look for specific bus numbers to see how the buses fared during their August inspections.
According to the database, of the buses owned by the Mahwah Board of Education, 50% passed initial inspection. The rest either received an out-of-service rejection, or a 30-day defect notice.
All of the buses received approval upon reexamination, according to the online report.
Reports for buses that initially failed inspection indicate what the issues were, and on what date the buses passed re-inspection.
Searchable reports are also available for the contracted bus companies the district uses, like the Scholastic Busing Company. School district transportation officials did not return calls Monday for comment on the report.
