Rash Of Car Break-Ins Leads To Arrest Of Man Who Fled Officers In Bergen County: Police

A recent rash of car burglaries led to the arrest of a man who ran away from officers in Hackensack, police said.

HACKENSACK, NJ — A suspect connected with a rash of vehicle burglaries in Hackensack ran away from officers last week, and kicked and pushed officers while trying to resist arrest Tuesday, police Capt. Michael Antista said.

Reggie Scott, 40, was charged in connection with several vehicle break-ins in October in the area of Prospect Avenue and American Legion Drive.

Scott was spotted on one occasion last week getting out of a vehicle, fleeing and eluding officers, and on Tuesday, he was seen in the passenger seat of a vehicle near South State Street and Kansas Street. Police pulled the car over and tried to apprehend him, as he pulled away and began to actively resist arrest.

Scott was charged with two counts of resisting arrest by flight, aggravated assault on a police officer, possession of controlled dangerous substance(s), possession of drug paraphernalia, and crimes related to the earlier burglaries. He was then taken to the Bergen County Jail, pending an initial court appearance.
