Child Sex Abuse Material Distributed, Bergen Co. Man Charged: District Attorney

A man faces up to 30 years in prison related to distribution and possession of child pornography, the U.S. Attorney said.

NEW MILFORD, NJ — A New Milford man faces up to 30 years in prison and a $500,000 fine, if convicted of charges related to the distribution and possession of child sexual abuse videos, U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Philip Sellinger said Friday.

Michael Kimmerle, 34, was charged last week in connection with such videos that were shared via an online peer-to-peer file-sharing program from an IP address traced to his address, and photos of child pornography — some of which were derived from one of the shared video files — recovered on his laptop, Sellinger said.

The videos depicted prepubescent children engaged in sexual acts with adults, according to court documents.

One of the videos, for example, showed a man vaginally penetrating a girl (approximately 3 to 5 years old) with his penis, his fingers and a Sharpie marker. Another video showed a man engaging in oral sex with a girl (7 to 9 years old) and sticking a sex toy into her buttocks, a criminal complaint said.

Kimmerle was charged with one count of distribution and one count of possession of child pornography. He was released on a $100,000 unsecured bond following a court appearance on Thursday, the U.S. attorney's office said.

The charges stem from incidents during a yearlong period starting in August 2021. An undercover investigation traced the videos to Kimmerle's address, and law enforcement recovered images from and found the P2P program on his laptop, the U.S. attorney's office said.
