'Elaborate' Marijuana Operation Uncovered, Man Arrested In Bergen County: Police

62 marijuana plants were seized from an illegal grow at a man's home in Bergen County, leading to the arrest of one man, police said.

HACKENSACK, NJ — A Hackensack man was charged last week in connection with 62 mature marijuana plants found at an illegal grow outside his home, city police Director Ray Guidetti said.

Anthony Dias, 64, was charged with manufacturing, distributing and dispensing illegal marijuana in an amount greater than 10 plants, which is a first-degree crime in New Jersey.

Police, Guidetti said, were tipped off anonymously to the marijuana operation within a "quiet residential neighborhood," and an ensuing search by officers and the county SWAT team culminated in the arrest of Dias.

Dias was operating an "elaborate" grow at his home containing the plants and other related evidence, all used to further an illicit drug production site, police said. He was lodged in the Bergen County Jail and is awaiting his first court appearance.
