Fifth Presidential Inauguration At Ramapo College Set For Oct. 14

MAHWAH, NJ — Retired U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Cindy Jebb, who received a PhD in political science from Duke University, will be formally installed as Ramapo College's fifth president in a ceremony on Oct. 14, the college said.

“I am honored to have this phenomenal opportunity to serve such an inspiring institution and community that is committed to investing in the future, one student at a time," Jebb said in a statement.

Jebb, who was unanimously approved by the Ramapo Board of Trustees to succeed Peter Mercer, officially began her tenure in July 2021, following a national search by a 15-member committee, the college added.

“President Jebb’s career-long commitment to developing strong, bold, empathetic leaders reinforces our obligation to the state of New Jersey and furthers our mission of equipping and empowering the leaders of tomorrow," Board of Trustees Chair Susan Vallario said.

Jebb will be inaugurated in a ceremony at 2 p.m. in the arena of the Bill Bradley Sports and Recreation Center, where attendees will hear remarks from Sen. Jack Reed, Major Gen. Diana Holland, Ramapo Lenape Nation Chief Dwaine Perry and New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy.

A professor and author, Jebb previously served as the 14th Dean of the Academic Board at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

"I am grateful for the community's warm embrace, Chair Vallario's compassionate leadership, and the Board of Trustees for their confidence and support," Jebb added.
