Free Dogs, Cats, Bunnies: Bergen County 'Clear The Shelter' Event This Weekend

Be a dog dad, cat lady, or bunny honey: Bergen County is waiving adoption fees at the shelter this weekend. Find your fur-ever friend!

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Are you finally going to make the commitment to a dog, cat, or bunny? This weekend, you can see which pets are available for adoption and bring one home fur-ever with no adoption fee.

Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco, the Board of County Commissioners, the County’s Division of Health, and Department of the Bergen County Animal Shelter will host a special event called "Clear the Shelters" from this Saturday, Aug. 24, through Sunday. The event runs both days from 1 to 5 p.m.

"The event offers Bergen County residents of all ages and abilities the opportunity to come meet dogs, cats, and rabbits who are available for adoption from the Bergen County Animal Shelter," said a spokesperson.

The shelter is located at 100 United Lane in Teterboro.

Reduced-fee adoptions have been running all month, but this weekend they'll be free.
